Description

Limousine Derby is a local Multiplayer Game for up to four Players. In Limousine Derby up to four Players can measure themself against each other in epic arena matches to find out who amongst them is the best driver. Each match is an epic showdown against your friends. Not only does one need to be a better driver than the others he also needs to have a better awareness of his surroundings, as each arena is filled with different hazards. Some of these hazards deal damage to the players’ vehicles, others mess with their controls by eighter speeding them up or slowing them down. In addition to that every few seconds spawn different Power Ups inside the arena. These Power Ups range from Health Restoration to Nitro Restoration and short Invincibility. A few of those power ups can also be saved by the player so they also need to strategize when to take the power ups which they had collected. All these things make every single match unique and special so that the players can keep on playing and having fun.

Motivation and Goal

The goal of this project was to create a local multiplayer game with which up to four friends can have an enjoyable afternoon. We tried to recreate a nostalgic feeling in the players of our games as we recreated the look of old retro games. Our goal was to give the players the possibility to experience a new game with the old look of the PlayStation 1 or of playing a new game on an old CRT-TV should they choose to play the game with the respective Renderer.

As a local multiplayer game for two to four players, the controls are designed for game controllers.

Lobby Controls

Select / any Button except A / Cross and B / Circle -> Join Lobby 
D-Pad Up / Left Stick Up -> Switch to the next Vehicle
D-Pad Down / Left Stick Down -> Switch to the previous Vehicle
D-Pad Right / Right Stick Right -> Switch to the next Color
D-Pad Left / Right Stick Left -> Switch to the previouse Color
Start -> Ready / Unready Player
A / Cross -> Press Selected Button / Select Map
B / Circle -> Leave Lobby

Vehicle Controls

Left Stick -> Steering 
Right Trigger -> Gas 
Left Trigger -> Reverse
Right Shoulder -> Brake
Left Shoulder -> Honk
A / Cross -> Use Power Up
B / Circle -> Nitro
